Water Meadows
My home town is surrounded by water. The land becomes inaccessible for walking as the River Avon spreads out across the fields, and many birds that are not usually visible are revealed in the open space.
The expanse of water finds different channels and creates new patterns, following the undulating shapes of the land. This creates endless sources of new lines; the same landscape changes from earth to water. The sunlight adds yet another dimension, with beautiful reflections created on huge expanses of watery surfaces.
Water is an endless source of inspiration and reminds us to live in harmony with these precious meadows. Painting them inspires me to abstract these interesting shapes. It allows the possibility to flatten and reinvent the pictorial plane through the constant shifting of line, shape, and texture.
